The Preakness Stakes is steeped in Maryland history and heritage and where racing tradition and attachment runs deep. Featuring an incredible weekend of entertainment and exceptional Thoroughbred horse racing, the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown showcases the Preakness Stakes (G1), the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) and the multi-entertainment Preakness LIVE headlined by world-renowned recording artists. First contested in 1873, the Preakness, known as “The People’s Race and The People’s Party,” is attended by upwards of 60,000+ racing and music fans, celebrities and athletes. A number of the sport’s most famous horses have captured the Woodlawn Vase and galloped into the winner’s circle draped in the iconic blanket of Black-Eyed Susan flowers, including Justify, American Pharoah, Affirmed, and Secretariat.
